Patient Education Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:  The Manager, Patient Education is responsible for the development of patient education initiatives including, online, print, and virtual resources for those diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. The Manager, Patient Education reports to the Senior Director, Patient Education & Support and collaborates with other staff as appropriate.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).  Degree preferred in a field of health communications, science, social service, public health, public administration, health advocacy, or health education (i.e. MPH, MPA, MSW or related degree).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience creating education programs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to plan and manage multiple projects in efficient and cost-effective ways.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to develop and create well-written copy and material.
  • Experience delivering educational materials using multiple modalities (online, print, virtual, video).
  • Experience evaluating and measuring the impact of educational programs.
  • An ability to work independently as well as a part of a collaborative team.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work normal business hours.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative patient education programs (online, print, virtual, video).
  • Conduct needs assessments and utilize data to develop learning objectives and measurable outcomes for education programs.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, volunteer medical advisors, and internal staff to develop program content.
  • Ensure that an effective evaluation process is developed for every program. Identify opportunities for improvement and address these opportunities in subsequent programs.
  • Assist in the development of marketing strategies and materials to promote education programs.
  • Ensure all aspects of patient education meet a high standard of accuracy, accessibility, quality, and professionalism that will reflect well on the Foundation.
  • Track program metrics consistently and contribute to Department reporting.
  • Prepare timely project status reports and PowerPoint presentations as requested.
  • Create and manage program budgets.  Track revenue, expenses, and contracts.
  • Create and manage project timelines.
  • Prepare grant requests to pharmaceutical and Foundation supporters.  Includes grant writing, submission, and reconciliation.
  • Present at internal and external meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Marketing, IT, Finance, Operations, and Development to achieve program goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of programs to educate the inflammatory bowel disease community on research updates.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities for education projects.
  • Support other department projects as identified.

While performing duties of the job, incumbent is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
